Press Release Summary: Founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving to be interviewed by "Healing the Grieving Heart" Hosts, Drs. Gloria and Heidi Horsley on May 1, 2008, sponsored by The Open to Hope Foundation.
Press Release Body: New York, New York and San Francisco, California - Candace Lightner, founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will join Drs. Gloria & Heidi Horsley on their nationally syndicated talk radio program "Healing the Grieving Heart" May 1st, 2008 at 9 AM PST/12 Noon EST.
"We feel fortunate to have one of the country's foremost experts joining us on this important topic. Her work on reducing the number of drunk drivers on the street and her impact on the lives of victims has been tremendously effective" said Dr. Heidi Horsley, co-host of Healing the Grieving Heart.
Candace Lightner transformed a personal tragedy into a crusade against drunk driving. She founded Mothers Against Drunk Driving, a grass-roots organization dedicated to curbing alcohol-related traffic deaths.
Lightner's 13-year-old daughter Cari, while walking down a quiet street, was struck from behind by a car. The impact threw Cari 125 feet, knocking off her shoes and mutilating her body so badly that it was not possible to save her organs for donation. Clarence William Busch, the driver of the car, did not stop. At the time of the crash, Busch had four previous drunk driving convictions, for which he had served, at most, 48 hours in jail. He had been arrested for another hit-and-run accident just two days before hitting Cari.
"Candace's experience not only changed laws all over the country, but by her sharing her personal experience individually and with her books, she's helped families around the world cope with their grief and given hope to many of us who have dealt with the loss of a loved one," commented Dr. Gloria Horsley, co-host of 'Healing the Grieving Heart" and Chairperson of The Open to Hope Foundation (http://www.opentohope.com), sponsor of "Healing the Grieving Heart" and The Grief Blog (http://www.thegriefblog.com).
